About the Area

The cabin sits inside the Chattahoochee National Forest, 750,000 acres of Appalachian ridgeline in North Georgia where the Blue Ridge Mountains begin their long run north. Blood Mountain, the highest peak on Georgia's stretch of the Appalachian Trail, carries its name from a Cherokee and Creek battle said to have turned the mountain's quartz red, ground that's been holding grief and reckoning long before we ever showed up.
